A Maritime Law Specialist, Pedro Olveira has represented a number of maritime and shipping related companies, holding great professional reputation particularly in maritime mediation and negotiation fields.
in 2005, Pedro became a member of Consejo Nacional de Espacios Acuáticos e Insulares, the highest advisory body of the National Executive on development of merchant shipping matters. Since, he has had the opportunity to represent and counsel both national and international maritime and shipping-related companies in the sector. He is one of the founding members of SOV Consultores, .
Pedro has build up expertise in negotiation and mediation of claims in connection with charterparties and bareboat charter contracts for the international sale of goods; offshore operation contracts, insurance policies, as well as other contracts of this sector.
In 1998, Pedro earned his law degree from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas, Venezuela. Additionally, he holds a Master of Law in Competition Law from Universidad de Santiago de Compostela and a Master in Law in International Maritime Law from Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid. He also holds a Certificate in Fishing Business from Instituto Marítimo Español (IME); and a Magister Degree in Mediation, Negotiation and Dispute Resolutions from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
Contribution to the maritime sector
He has been Lecturer of Maritime Contracts at Universidad Marítima del Caribe (UMC) and is a member of both the Venezuelan Maritime Law Association (AVDM) and the Ibero-American Institute of Maritime Law (IIDM); VP Offshore Activities of Venezuelan Maritime Cluster. He is also Legal Advisor in Venezuela to United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on maritime matters. He has written articles and participated as speaker on various topics related to the sector. Fluent in Spanish and English.
